blue into clear
for Keikei
saw the
waters as they
swiftened under
the onward beat
of rain drop
through my eye
felt cold in
the hand as
i trawled for
these words in
river sand to
let them rise
and run in
voice….
they say
these waters
need a century to
rise through earth
blue into clear
the dreaming cress
and drift of river
plant like a
touch of
lovers just
met now
to part
if love were a garden
it might look so
clear to all
who tread its
bank knowing
it did not come
easily a hundred
years then onward
in the open under
eye and frond
those on the
bank learning in
time if love
were a garden
it might look
so,
those in
the waters
knowing
already
gone into
shades of
emerald
and agate
the untangled
weave of
of its
perfectly
temperate
light….
if love were a garden
it might look so
